John 10:10 The thief does not come except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly.
Jesus said that He came so that we might have life. But not only would we have life, He said we would have it abundantly. I looked up the word used for abundantly and this is what I found. The Greek word is “perissos”. It means over and above, more than is necessary, very highly, and beyond measure. So Jesus is saying that He came so we could have lives that are beyond measure. Because of Him we can have fulfilling lives. Because of His death on the cross, those who choose to believe in Him and follow Him will be taken up to Heaven, when Jesus comes again. Life in Heaven will be more abundant than we can possibly imagine.
However, this promise is also true for us while we are still living on this earth. People who completely give up their own wants so they can live the lives God wants for them, will find their lives very fulfilling and interesting. If life seems boring. If it seems like you're just doing the same old thing day after day, then hook up with God. Tell Him to take over and use you in whatever way He can. I can assure you, life will not be boring. God has so many gifts and a variety of interesting experiences just waiting for us if we would only give our lives completely to Him.
The other alternative left for breaking up the boredom of life are short term fixes which ends up leaving you feeling empty, unsatisfied, and feeling worse about yourself. But God's way will last your whole life. Instead of feeling empty, you will feel fulfilled and satisfied.
God's promise is for anyone. Even the unmarried. Society tends to think a person isn't fulfilled until they are married. That kind of thinking puts the responsibility of fulfillment on the spouse, which is an impossible expectation of anyone. God is the only one who can carry that responsibility.
