John 10:7-9 So Jesus said again, Truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and outlaws: but the sheep did not give ear to them. I am the door: if any man goes in through me he will have salvation, and will go in and go out, and will get food.
There is only one way. One way to salvation. One way for a fulfilled life. One way for genuine happiness. One way for a secure future. That way is through Jesus Christ. He is the door to salvation. He is the door to a secure future that will last for eternity. He is the door to a happy and fulfilled life. All other ways are false, give only a temporary sense of happiness, and none offer salvation.
Before Jesus came to this earth there were false leaders. Leaders who had ridiculous and strict rules which they said was necessary for salvation. Those same leaders didn't recognize the Messiah when He arrived and ended up putting Jesus to death. But their actions did nothing to stop Jesus. He rose from the grave and is now in Heaven. Whenever we pray to Him and ask Him to forgive us, He marks those sins as paid in full by His death.
There have been many false prophets and false leaders since Jesus was here. The people who were following Jesus and listening to His voice, stayed away from them. But those who decided to follow someone other than Jesus were robbed of their salvation and a life a true fulfillment and happiness. No one but Jesus can offer such promises.
There is nothing on this earth that can make the same offer Jesus does. Not even wealth, nice homes, parties, friends, or popularity. Neither will you find true happiness and fulfillment in high living, drinking, self-indulgence, affairs, or any other type of immorality. All of that leaves a person with a temporary good feeling. When the good feelings go away, all that is left is an feeling of emptiness.
Some people have the idea that going to church, will give them salvation and ensure their spot in Heaven. Some think their minister can pardon their sins and get them to Heaven. Others are depending on doing good deeds to win their way to Heaven. There is nothing wrong with doing good deeds, or going to church. We are even instructed to do both.
Let your light so shine
before men that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
Matthew 5:16
Let us not give up the habit
of meeting together, as some are doing.
Instead, let us encourage
one another all the more,
since you see that the Day
of the Lord is coming nearer.
Hebrew 10:25
A minister or teacher who is led by God will help shed light on God's word and encourage others in their walk with God. But none of those, by themselves, will get a person to Heaven. Only a relationship with Jesus. Only surrendering completely to His will and following Him when He calls us. That alone is what will save us, bring us a full life now and in the new earth. Only Jesus can completely meet our needs. With Him we can go anywhere, knowing that He will take care of us and help us through the rough times. And there will be rough times. There is always the devil, who like a wolf, is trying to steal the sheep. During those times we just need to call out to Jesus, who is our Shepherd, and stay close to Him. He will help us through it all. There are no other gods, no other leaders who can, or will, take such good care of us.
