Love is not provoked to anger. 1 Corinthians 13:5

This part of the text means having a fuse so slow that it never gets to the explosion. William Barclay wrote something that I'm going to pass on to you. It's very good.

“Love never flies into a temper. The real meaning of this is that Christian love never becomes exasperated with people. Exasperation is always a sign of defeat. When we lose our tempers we lose everything. Kipling said that it was the test of a man if he could keep his head when everyone else was losing his and blaming it on him, and if when he was hated he did not give way to hating. The man who is master of his temper can rise to be master of anything.”

I learned something about anger one summer. During a particularly stressful time, my normally short temper became even shorter.  I had to develop a different view of what is serious, life-threatening, or important enough to get upset about. I had to learn that most things really aren't that serious, and just because something doesn't agree with my way of thinking, doesn't mean it's wrong. I could be the one that's wrong. Some things that I usually got upset over were things that I didn't want to give up control on and it bothered my pride. I had to learn to turn it all over to God and let Him sort it out for me.  I had to learn that there were times when it was best to just walk away and let go of the situation.  There were also times when I needed to learn to calmly talk about it with the person I was angry with until it was settled, but never let myself get angry. That meant I had to constantly pray for help, because I am unable to do this on my own.

This kind of love is not limited to husbands and wives, other family members or church members. This is Christian love. That means love like Christ had. Christ loves ALL. Therefore we should display this kind of love to everyone. That includes the person in the supermarket, at the stoplight, or at work. Whoever it is that's getting on your nerves, that's the person who needs to see this kind of love. So pray for help, get a different view on the situation and don't blow your stack.

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.” Proverbs 16:32
