Love beareth all things. 1Corinthians 13:7

This one surprised me. I thought it meant Love suffers or tolerates all things. In studying it out, I found it didn't mean that at all. The direct translation from Greek says “all things covers quietly”.

What this means is that in our love for each other, we don't gossip. Instead, we do our best to protect each other. If we see someone who appears to be struggling in their Christian walk, we go to them, not to condemn them, but to first, find out the facts, and then to offer help. Genuine love will never break the confidence with that person by speaking of it to someone else. Real Christian love won't even use Christianity to gossip. No prayer requests that names the person, or even worse, mentions the struggle the person is having. No meetings with others to discuss the difficulties of someone else. None of this should be done without the permission of the person who has confided in us. If the situation requires the attention of the pastor, then it's our duty to make sure the pastor we go to is one who will not tell others.

What can we do for the person who is struggling? We can keep talking to God about it, and keep things friendly between us and the other person so there is always some contact with them. We humans tend to think that God's hands are tied unless we jump in and help Him. God has many ways of reaching His children. He isn't dependent on a gossipmonger to do the job for Him.

Love reaches out to protect and cover the faults and weaknesses of others. Especially our church members, our families, and most importantly, our spouses.
