Love rejoices in the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:6

This isn't as easy as it first seems. In the page "Love isn't Happy with Injustice" we read that we're not to be happy when we hear of the suffering of someone who has made our lives difficult. What we read now is that not only should we not be happy at their demise, but if later it is made clear that what we heard about the person was a lie, we should rejoice that the real truth is made known, rather than looking for another lie about the individual. True Christ-like love will put aside the negative feelings and rejoice instead.

Another area where this can be difficult is in how we tell the truth. There is only one way to tell the truth and that is truthfully. No exaggerations, no stretching or coloring the story. If we can't remember details, we don't make up some and figure it's close enough and then call it truth. If it's not a pure, original, unadorned story you're telling, it's no longer the truth.

If telling the truth could get in the way of our plans, hurt our position, or be painful in anyway, we should never alter it to make it look better in an effort to protect ourselves. A Christian will face the truth head on. They will be ready to face whatever happens because they know that whatever the outcome is, God is there to walk through it with them. They never have anything to hide. There is no fear of being caught because they told the truth, and there is no fear of the results because God is right beside them, helping them through the good and the bad.

There is nothing more freeing than knowing you never have anything to hide or fear because you have kept the truth.
