If you find yourself struggling to give your all to Jesus, time, money, or even giving up something that you know you shouldn’t do, but just can’t let go of it, consider this;

Jesus left Heaven. He left His Father and home for 33 years to come down to what must have seemed like Hell in comparison. The last 3 years were spent giving all of himself to serve others. He seldom had time to himself. People were always chasing after Him, to be healed or to listen to His teaching. In the end, they all left him. Even His closest friends left Him when He needed them the most.

He was betrayed by one of his friends and arrested like a criminal. They found some false witnesses who came forward to speak against Him. They spit on Him, beat Him, slapped Him with the palms of their hands and taunted Him by saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck you?" This was on Thursday night.

Early Friday morning they took Him to Pilate. Pilate questioned Him, couldn't find anything wrong with Him and turned Him over to Herod. Herod questioned Jesus and sent Him back to Pilate. They took off His clothes and put on purple robes. They put crown of thorns on His head and put a reed in His right hand. They bowed before Him and mocked Him by saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" Then they hit him on the head with the reed. Pilate questioned Jesus again and couldn't find any crime to charge Him with, but he was swayed by public opinion so he had Jesus whipped and then delivered Him to be crucified.

It was still morning when they took Jesus to Golgotha. They stripped Him of His clothes, spread Him out over a cross and nailed Him to it.  Anyone who passed by would see Him, naked, bleeding, and nailed to a cross - a cross that had a sign that said, "King of the Jews". The Bible says that "Those who passed by hurled insults at Him, shaking their heads and saying “'So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, come down from the cross and save yourself!'” The chief priests and scribes also said, "He saved others; but He cannot save Himself. Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even one of thieves next to Jesus hurled insults at him saying “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” The other thief rebuked the first one and asked Christ to remember him. In the middle of all Jesus was going through, he forgave that thief.

After hanging there and being taunted all morning, it was in the middle of the day when He cried out "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Then he said, “It is finished” and died. All His work was done. He was able to win back earth and everyone on it. All we have to do is just believe on Him and ask Him to come into our lives.

Jesus went through all of this so you and I don't have to die an eternal death. He saved us so we can live forever in Heaven with Him. What can possibly be taking up our time that is worth more than what He did for us? Give it all. He gave everything He had for us. His home, time, and His life. Nothing in your life, and no one but Jesus can give you eternal life.
